THEATRE FOR A CAUSE, THEATRE FOR GOOD

Our company is founded on two important core concepts. The first is our desire to ‘give back’ and to this end we are set up as a non for profit group, donating all profits to charity.  The other core concept is to present productions that have a focus on shows featuring strong and vibrant female roles. Not that we are excluding the guys, our focus is firmly set on ensuring that the large pool of highly talented women out there are given as many performance opportunities as possible.

Our aim is to present the many wonderful smaller works out there, as well as reworking existing larger shows to suit a more intimate staging. Taking inspiration from Sydney's boutique venues,  we feel the intimate nature of smaller spaces will allow our  productions to connect on a more personal level with audiences.

We absolutely love theatre - it’s such an enriching, exciting, challenging and entertaining art form.  We love performing it, talking about it, supporting it and attending as much of it as possible. We now also look forward to presenting it by our new company and hope to see as many of you as possible sitting out there doing the same thing.

Our Team

As the saying goes, 'No man is an island' and D2 Productions only exists because of the hard work of all four of its Board who bring different perspectives and skill sets.

Declan Moore
Artistic Director
Co-Owner

First stepping out on stage at age 10 as ‘Dopey, the dwarf, Declan became instantly hooked on theatre! After performing in over 100 productions in Northern Ireland, he crossed to the other side of the footlights to start directing and choreographing and has now 80+ musicals under his directorial belt. Since emigrating to Sydney in 2011 with his partner (and company co-owner) David, Declan has been highly involved in the theatre scene here too. ‘I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to direct and choreograph some simply amazing talent in Sydney and am so excited to launch ‘D2 Productions’ and present even more opportunities for some of that incredible talent to shine’.

By day, David is the Executive Manager of Clinical Operations at Regal Health, but his love of music extends right back to early childhood. He’s performed onstage in numerous musicals and behind the scenes has been everything from company chairperson to treasurer and all points in between! A personal highlight was winning ‘Best Male Singer’ in Ireland in 2005 and shortlisted again as a nominee in 2011. Along with Declan, he is excited to be launching Sydney’s newest independent theatre company. ‘It’s been a passionate project of ours to add to the vibrant boutique theatre scene in Sydney’.

David Thompson
Finance Director
Co-Owner

Tisha re-discovered the performance bug late and along with being a parent to Jared, wife to Andrew and the VP, Customer Business - APAC for Faethm by Pearson, she has appeared in well over 25 productions across theatrical companies in Sydney.   Her favourite moments on stage  include principal roles such as Lady Thiang, Mother Abbess & George's Mother. But a lot of joy is also found in wonderful character roles and cameos.  As Director of Marketing for D2 Productions, Tisha brings 15 years professional Sales & Marketing experience to the team.  “I’m excited to launch a new voice to Sydney’s emerging Independent Theatre scene.”

Tisha Kelemen
Marketing Director
Linus Karsai
Technical Director

Linus got his first taste of theatre back in 2008 when he joined the stage crew for his high school Rock Eisteddfod and instantly hooked to the team spirit that a show generates, and the community that grows around it. Over the years he has extended into the world of musical theatre where he has been technical director, assistant stage manager and stage crew for a range of different shows large and small. He's particularly excited about working with D2, not only because it raises money for a good cause, but because it's a great chance to hone his skills on the great smaller shows out there and to create opportunities for up and coming crew members.

Our Cause

Dementia describes a collection of symptoms that are caused by disorders affecting the brain. It is not one specific disease.  Dementia affects thinking, behaviour and the ability to perform everyday tasks. Brain function is affected enough to interfere with the person’s normal social or working life.  Dementia is not just a personal affliction, it has far reaching effects felt by families and the larger community.  Because of this, D2 Productions is proud to be affiliated with Dementia Australia as our chosen charity.

Dementia Australia represents over 447,115 Australians living with dementia and the almost 1.5 million Australians involved in their care.  Dementia is currently the largest cause of female deaths in Australia, and tie that together with our desire to focus on females, the pairing between D2 Productions and Dementia Australia is a perfect fit. All proceeds from our productions, after costs, will be donated to Dementia Australia to support their great work in their delivery of consistent support services, strengthen their capacity for advocacy and enhance the organisation’s ability to raise awareness, fund raise, and facilitate research and education into the prevention, delay and cure of dementia.
